But how you tell what's "good agency and what's "not so good" agency? Is price any indication? Not necessarily. Here are the facts.
Our caregivers is under the supervision of nurses and LVN.

- Cheaper is not always cheaper. If you hire a private caregiver, (this means one that is for hire directly, and not through an agency,) You are legally responsible for their taxes. You are their employer. You are responsible if they are injured on the job. If they steam from you, you may have no protection.
- Caregivers who are employees of an agency must have their taxes paid, and be covered by worker's compensation by the agency. Many legitimate agencies also cover their worker with a Bond against theft, for your protection. An insurance company WILL NOT Bond a person unless they are an employee of a company OR they are legitimately self-employed meaning they pay their own taxes and are classified with the IRS as an Independent Contractor. Ask to see their last tax filing. Bonding is very expensive, and may caregivers cannot afford it.
